The Beauty of Rosewood Furniture
Rosewood furniture has always been appreciated by people who love the finer things in life. The deep colour of the wood is one of the reasons for its popularity. It offers a deep reddish brown colour that brings a stately feeling to the room. It is also the reason for its usage as a veneer. Restaurant owners love the elegance. Even lodge owners love the wood as it adds the bit of flair required.
The sapwood is surprisingly light in colour while the heartwood is reddish-brown with pinkish veins. It is a hardwood that dries well over a longer period. Craftsman loves its workability and being a wood that gives a stunning finish without too hard work from the craftsman, it is well suited for the making of furniture.
Rosewood cannot be stained and only oiling is required to give an excellent finish. It is often used in the making of flooring, but more so for the crafting of superior Rosewood furniture. More often known in Africa as Muscti, the wood comes from large grown in the Cameroon and Zaire. Knowing the fine balance between the responsible usage of timber for the making of furniture and causing environmental damage, we only purchase timber from areas where responsible reforestation practices are followed.
With the reddish brown colour often becoming darker until it is purple brown, the wood is sometimes compared to a fine red wine that becomes better as it ages. As such we are able to craft Rosewood furniture that can one day become family heirlooms as the furniture just becomes more elegant with time.
